HMS Richmond is the tenth of the Type 23 Duke Class Anti Submarine Warfare Frigates in service with the Royal Navy and the eighth warship to bear the name. She was the last warship to be built by Swan Hunter Shipbuilders on the Tyne and was launched by Lady Hill-Norton on 6 April 1993.
The ship was accepted into the Operational Fleet in October 1996. Based in Portsmouth when in the UK, the Ship has completed deployments to the Far East, America, the South Atlantic and the Arabian Gulf. Her most recent deployment to the Caribbean included Counter-Drug operations and disaster relief operations support in the islands of Turks and Caicos, Grenada and Grand Cayman.
The ship is now conducting visits in home waters prior to entering refit in her home port of Portsmouth later in the year.
